Gluten-free Apple Rings

These gluten-free Apple Rings made with Dilettoso’s Vava Vanilla Mix are crispy outside, tender inside, and bursting with warm vanilla flavor. Simply cooked in a pan to golden perfection, they’re the perfect quick breakfast or snack with an Italian-inspired flair.

What you need

  • 1 large apple (Fuji or Honeycrisp work best), sliced into ½-inch rounds
  • 1 cup Vava Vanilla Dilettoso Mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • A touch of butter or oil for cooking
  • Topping: Cinnamon Sugar or Powdered Sugar
  • Dipping: Greek Yogurt with Cinnamon

How to do it

  1. SLICE the apple into thick rings, about ½-inch wide.
  2. REMOVE the core from each slice using a small round cutter or knife to create a ring.
  3. PAT the apple slices dry with a paper towel (see Hot Hot Tip).
  4. WHISK together Vava Vanilla Mix, egg, and milk in a bowl until smooth. Batter should be thick but pourable.
  5. HEAT a nonstick pan over medium and add a little butter or oil.
  6. DIP each apple ring into the batter, fully coating both sides.
  7. PLACE on the hot pan and COOK 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and puffed.
  8. TRANSFER to a plate and SPRINKLE with cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar if desired.
  9. SERVE warm as-is or with a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
