Tahini is a paste made from sesame seeds and it offers several nutritional benefits, including anti-inflammatory compounds; about 50% of the fat in tahini comes from monounsaturated fatty acids. These have anti-inflammatory properties and have been linked to a decreased risk of chronic disease. Tahini has also antibacterial properties due to the powerful antioxidants they contain, including lignan sesamin.
